BACKGROUND

Founded in 2001 by a volunteer ad hoc committee with proceeds of the tournament being directed to the City of Brampton United Way of Peel appeal.

• A first class tournament, themed and different from others to remain a desirable tournament for players and sponsors.
•  In 2005 Mayor Fennell launched the Match the Mayor for a Million campaign and the Golf Classic committee pledged to direct $100,000 annually to William Osler for a period of ten years. The campaign has successfully attracted a number of other private donors to "Match the Mayor for a Million" and dedicate funds directly to the hospital.
•  In 2008, at the Cityof Brampton, Christmas Tree Lighting, Mayor Fennell observed the Salvation Army Community Response vehicle in use was from another "city".   Mayor Fennell learned the Salvation Army, Brampton, did not own a response vehicle. Mayor Fennell came to the Golf Committee and asked if it would be possible to make ‘another pledge’ to the Brampton Salvation Army to have their own ‘bus’.
•  In November 2010 The "Brampton" Salvation Army Community Response Vehicle was put into Service to aid families in need in Brampton.
